Generally I don’t get on with police; this is because usually I am on the wrong side of the law. Today I experienced one of those moments when I found a police officer with a sense of humour. Not just one officer though two officers, in separate vehicles.
I was happily driving along my normal route to work and came off a junction to hit a dual carriageway when I pulled out from the 1st line to the 2nd lane. The car behind me let me out and I noticed it was a police officer so I waved to thank him. At this point I noticed another police officer in front of me and realised I had just interrupted their little convoy.
Now most people know what it’s like to be sat pacing a police car or overtaking the buggers at 71mph, it’s one of the most boring driving experiences ever. I was in between 2 police officers on a busy dual carriageway; they were obviously in communication with each other because they were both speaking on their radios all the time.
Anyway I decided to leave the convoy by pulling back into the 1st line, as I pulled into the 1st line the police car in front and behind both pulled in with me. We are all doing 70mph dead on but I felt like I was going to be pulled because I am driving a bit of a “boy racer” car. Any way I think it may be better to overtake the officer in front of me so I pull out into the second lane, again both these officers pull out blocking me, it wasn’t in an aggressive way so I guessed it wasn’t to pull me but was just to annoy me.
After about 10 miles of this pulling in and out the officer in front pulls into the 1st lane and indicates on his right (usually an indication to overtake or pass) so I go for it, at 72mph I feel like I am breaking all the laws at the same time, slowly overtaking this police officer. The second I get past him i instantly see him pull out to the 2nd lane. Suddenly I hear Woo woo and see all these flashing lights from the two police cars behind me. I suddenly think “Fuck it’s a trap” they indicate to me to pull over to I pull into the 1st hand lane but they just carry on driving. For the next 20 miles every time I overtake them and they just keep doing the same, letting me overtake then putting on the blues and twos and making me pull aside. They are in hysterics, I can see them in my mirrors laughing their heads off because they can see its frustrating me and shitting me up.
Funny to them funny to me. Its nice to see them have a sense of humor and a bit of a laugh sometimes.
